BF6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how demanding these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. It features four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.
Some of these gated guns might eventually find their way on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is tough enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.
But when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
At the moment, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in coming revisions.
