Yet following 10 weeks in this campaign, this doesn't represent a landscape with perfect equilibrium between the good, the bad and the mediocre. AFC Confusion

Turning to the American Football Conference, the playoff picture remains completely chaotic. Your four division leaders through ten weeks: the Colts, Patriots, Broncos (all at 8-2) and Steelers (5-4 record). Read that again. Kansas City isn't there. Not the Bills. Baltimore and Cincinnati are absent. The usual contenders, backed by premier quarterback talent, have either obvious team deficiencies or are dealing with health issues.

Competitive Balance System

To some extent, it’s the league’s ideal. But watching this year’s four division leaders within the conference still feels strange. Aspects of each franchise suggest title potential, but not in their entirety. Team Breakdowns

Indianapolis Outlook

First, examining Indianapolis, the signal-caller hasn’t quite reached pumpkin status. But the last two weeks have been worrying. He's reverting to committing turnovers and failing against blitzes. He suffered seven sacks facing Atlanta on Sunday, and endured a brief period in which he threw an interception and lost three fumbles. This follows he turned the ball over five separate times facing the Steelers.

New England Analysis

Except for losing due to fumbles a contest they should have won facing Pittsburgh, they would currently hold a 9-1 record with the best record. Last season, they seemed veteran and plodding. Now they’re youthful, quick and confident. Still, it’s hard to ignore the weakness of New England's opponents. They've encountered the least challenging lineup across the NFL, yet vulnerabilities remain. Their quarterback has taken sacks 35 times – among the highest totals – including particular impacts he suffered last weekend were vicious. As the season progresses, those hits add up.

Broncos Situation

The Broncos hold also 8-2, yet it seems that they're barely surviving. Their quarterback has shown inconsistency, with the attack struggling, while the defensive unit provides all the heavy lifting. Lacking competent QB performance, the Broncos won't frighten anyone in the postseason. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the Ravens have narrowed to within one game of Pittsburgh, but that it has arrived so quickly represents criticism toward the Steelers' uneven performances. That the Ravens started with a 1-5 record and still look like likely to claim the title reveals much about the complete conference.

The Ravens represent a segment among three elite teams – together with Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, who would still strike the greatest concern for opponents if they qualified. They're the teams everyone hopes to avoid, yet Kansas City and Buffalo cannot get out of their own way.
