Thomas Partey Set to Play Against Spurs Before Court Hearing
The midfielder is “ready” to play against Tottenham in the UCL on Tuesday, a day before his court date in legal proceedings on multiple accusations, says Villarreal manager Marcelino
Former Arsenal player Partey, in his thirties, was charged previously with several allegations of criminal offenses involving two women and a charge of unlawful conduct against a separate individual
The offences are reported to have happened between the past few years when he represented the Premier League side
Partey denies every accusation with attorney stating that he looks forward to the chance to establish his innocence”
The court granted him temporary freedom and shortly afterward agreed to terms with Spanish side, who finished just outside top four in La Liga recently
His court date is at the judicial venue on Wednesday for a legal procedure a day after his side’s European debut against their opponents
“Without a doubt that his mindset is right and ready skill-wise for the fixture,” commented Marcelino on Monday
“Certainly he’ll be prepared. It’s positive that he’s part of the squad for his skills, technical quality and his personality”
“An exceptional talent with a lot of experience. He has played for major sides. It’s clear he has a great level”
When asked about fan behavior from Tottenham fans, he replied that attention is solely on the game itself
“There is speculation about a player that may well be totally innocent,” Marcelino added
“Tomorrow is a football match where the important thing is the sport
“England is where football was invented as we know. Do you understand me? Thank you”
His move to the London club from La Liga opponents in recent seasons and played on numerous occasions for the club, scoring a number of strikes
He has played four times for the Yellow Submarine in the current campaign, with one beginning in the lineup
